Annual General Meeting 2021
Thank you to everyone who turned out for the 2021 Annual General Meeting of the Manotick Village and Community Association (MVCA) on June 17 via Zoom. The AGM kicked off with Councillors Scott Moffatt, George Darouze and Carol Ann Meehan who provided brief updates on municipal projects in the area.
As part of the MVCA Board’s annual update, it presented some initial results of its truck traffic survey conducted early in the spring. The survey, conducted over 9 weeks, involved counting the larger trucks going through the Village at the Bridge and Main intersection. The survey showed that about 90 trucks go through that intersection each hour, with the majority travelling from Mitch Owens to Bankfield or vice versa. It also showed that this route continues to carry the majority of trucks when compared to truck traffic using the Vimy Bridge or Roger Stevens Drive. The full report will be published in the near future and more details will be included in the next column.
The members also acclaimed the following Executive: President Grace Thrasher, Treasurer Nancy Horne, Secretary Doug Valerio, VP of Events Theresa Roberts and VP of Communications Leeanne Vander Burgt. The Board welcomed two new Directors at Large: Steve Levecque and Irene Staron. They also thanked departing Directors John Harrison and Allan Smith for their contribution to the transportation and emergency preparedness files and their dedication to representing the interests of the Village.
