Shiverfest 2023 was a cold, but well attended winter carnival this year. Most people opted for the indoor activities where they could stay warm - although the sleigh ride was still a highlight for many participants. The magic show, pancake breakfast, children's fun time and bingo were popular events for all ages.
The chili contest had a great crowd again after a three year absence with several new chefs participating. The Amateur winner was Richard Walker and second went to 11 year old Zachary Peat. This year the Mill Tavern took home first place honours in the Professional category with Miller's Oven placing second.
The Trivia fundraiser was also a well-attended event that raised almost $1500 for the Manotick Food Cupboard.
A big thank you goes to our event partners: Manotick Fire Station, Kiwanis, the Legion, YOMA, Manotick Culture Parks and Recreation, Manotick Nursery School and Rideau Valley Day Care.
Thank you to our major sponsors who allowed us to offer so many events free of charge. We would also like to thank all of the local businesses who generously donated raffle prizes for our fundraising efforts for the Food Cupboard. A final total for the donation will be made once all of the expenses have been tallied.
Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed this annual winter event. We hope to see you again next year!
