Here are the SoapBox Derby Winners for 2023
In the speed category:
1st: Felix A.
2nd Kate and John R. , who shared a cart
3rd Avery N.
We had some very creative carts this year.
Most Creative:
Alice & Graham P, who built the cart with their grandfather. Graham let us know that the cheetah is the fastest land animal and as such, they painted their cart to resemble a cheetah.
Cyrus A. Cyrus’ cart resembled an old fashioned car.
Best Engineered:
Avery N. Avery and his grandfather built this cart together. His grandfather was a vehicle mechanic and Avery was very involved in the construction.
Most Sustainable:
Aiden T. & Antoine T. built this cart along with other Scouts from their troop. The cart was made from recycled/scrap wood.
Finally, we gave a Sportmanship Award to Jack B. , who shared his cart with a young driver, who’s cart did not pass the mechanical pre-screening.

A bit about the SoapBox Derby
Summer is the time for kids and their parents to use their creativity by building a soapbox cart and racing it in the Allan Haan Manotick Soapbox Derby.
The Manotick Village and Community Association (MVCA) held the 11th annual Allan Haan Manotick Soapbox Derby on Sunday 27 August 2023 on Beaverwood Road next to Centennial Park at the Manotick Community Centre.
This is a fun derby, perhaps not suitable for serious soapbox racing enthusiasts, but anyone 7 or older is welcome to participate.
Participants can build their own carts or we have some sponsored carts for those who cannot make one.

MVCA's Picnic in the Park begins at 11:30 am on the day of the Derby. It can be found in Centennial Park which is located beside the Manotick Community Centre at 5572 Dr. Leach Drive.
In the park there will be activities for children and youth, live music and a barbecue lunch. Please note that the food is available while supplies last.
