A bit about the SoapBox Derby
​​
Summer is the time for kids and their parents to use their creativity by building a soapbox cart and racing it in the Allan Haan Manotick Soapbox Derby.
​
This is a fun derby, perhaps not suitable for serious soapbox racing enthusiasts, but anyone 7 or older is welcome to participate.
​

Join in the fun or come cheer the racers on... and then come have lunch with us

MVCA's Picnic in the Park begins at 11:30 am on the day of the Derby. It can be found in Centennial Park which is located beside the Manotick Community Centre at 5572 Dr. Leach Drive.
​
In the park there will be activities for children and youth, live music and a barbecue lunch. Please note that the food is available while supplies last.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the 13th Annual Allan Haan Manotick Soapbox Derby and Picnic in the Park such a roaring success! Despite the early morning rain, the sun came out, and so did our wonderful community.
To our 38 Soapbox Derby participants, your energy and enthusiasm were incredible. It was a thrill to watch each one of you race down the hill, and for those of you who built your own carts, your hard work and creativity truly paid off.
To our numerous spectators, your cheers and support created an electric atmosphere that helped make the morning unforgettable. Thank you for coming out to cheer on our racers, and to enjoy the entertainment and delicious BBQ at the Picnic in the Park.
To our many generous donors and sponsors, your contributions are the engine that drives this event. Without your support, we couldn't bring this wonderful tradition to life. Thank you for your commitment to our community.
And finally, to the many amazing volunteers, you are the backbone of the Derby and Picnic in the Park. From setup to cleanup and everything in between, your tireless efforts and dedication ensured the day ran safely and smoothly. We are so grateful for your time and hard work.
A special thank you to our local firefighters, the 1st Manotick Venturers and the Kiwanis Club of Manotick for all their heavy lifting before, during and after the Derby, especially on a hot weekend.
The events are truly a celebration of community, and it's all thanks to each and every one of you. We can't wait to see you all next year!
