First Annual Soapbox Derby
The weather couldn't have been better and the hard work of the many volunteers who worked for many months to organize the Derby paid off! Our sincere thanks to Larry and Audrey Renton for suggesting this idea to Allan Haan and for their donation of the prizes for the winning carts. Allan very capably took charge of organizing this event and worked tirelessly with his many volunteers to make it happen. 29 carts and 47 children participated in this new event.
First place went to cart #2, driven by Anthony Carriere and Stéphane Rondeau (35.83 seconds)
Second place, cart # 14, driven by Mathew Bracewell (36.77 seconds)
Third place, cart #19, driven by Payton and Larisa Murdock (37.92 seconds)
Carole Piché, the grandmother of the two winning co-drivers tells an interesting story of the history of the winning cart.
 For those who couldn't attend, we have compiled a slideshow which tells the story of the day!
